I love this. The politically correct collective controlling campus thought was bad when I was. Identity politics was ism du jour. And now I see that it has nearly completely hijacked independent thought altogether. The paying students are of age, they are adults. Even in high school many are adults; they’re ready for the world of business and work. Boy are they ready, and they should be. High school tends to prolong teenage years into something resembling adolescence. School babies kids. Turns them into dependent thinkers. Can’t go to lunch until the bell rings. Can’t go to class until the bell rings. Can’t go home until the bell rings. Everyone, as well as the adults, are subject to this torture. The idiots will call it “part of the discipline.” No it’s not. Certainly not the discipline that comes from internal and intestinal fortitude to overcome frustration. With bells, kids and sheeplike adults, are told when and where they can do things. Let’s say it’s unhealthy and leave it at that. So today, college becomes an extension of high school, where young adults continue to be told what to do by their “betters.” Decisions are no longer made by individuals appointed for leadership roles, like the Superintendent or Ombudsman or President. Now decisions are made about events and guests based on, wait for it . . . “campus community.” Oh, I see, the students are no longer individuals making individual choices, but they have been subsumed communities, corralled into identity politics for easier manipulation. California State University Los Angeles President William Covino abruptly canceled a speech by Ben Shapiro that was scheduled to take place on Thursday February 25th, reports FOX Business. He is Editor-at-Large, Breitbart.com.
Shapiro’s speech titled “When Diversity Becomes A Problem” was twice approved by the student budget board and was sponsored by the conservative student group Young America’s Foundation But liberal groups aggressively protested Shapiro’s upcoming speech and one CSULA professor, Robert Weide, threatened to wrestle conservative students who supported the event. President Covino sent an email to YAF late Monday night saying, “After careful consideration I have decided that it will be best for our campus community if we reschedule Ben Shapiro’s appearance for a later date, so that we can arrange for him to appear as part of a group of speakers with differing viewpoints on diversity.”
Covino did not cancel liberal focused speeches which include counter culture radical Angela Davis and Tim Wise who will lecture students on “Exploring Whiteness” on Wednesday February 24th or Serene Khader on the topic, “Do Muslim Women Really need Freedom?”
Shapiro and YAF intend to hold the speech on Thursday despite the CSULA ban and threaten to sue the school if they are blocked from the auditorium where the speech was scheduled to take place.
“The campus fascists have taken over,” he told Breitbart News. “I pay taxes in the state of California; I’m paying for these whiny children to be indoctrinated by radical leftists. For CSULA to pretend that they’re trying to provide balance isn’t just stupid, it’s insultingly stupid. I am the balance, and they’re too afraid to let me speak. These aren’t diversity warriors. They’re jackbooted thugs. If they want to call the men with guns to shut down free speech, they’ll demonstrate clearly just who they are. I’ll be there on Thursday. See you there, snowflakes.”
