1993 Waco & the Davidian Massacre

It is likely FBI agents, conspiring either silently or explicitly with BATF agents, deliberately sabotaged negotiations with the Davidians to prevent their exiting Mount Carmel.             Carol Moore, 1995

In the video “The Waco Incident: The True Story,” controversial investigator Gordon Novel asserts, “That’s America’s first Auschwitz right there.  They’re gassing them prior to cremating them.”  The massacre of the Branch Davidians was the greatest government massacre of civilians on American soil since the massacre of 300 Native Americans at Wounded Knee in 1890.  There are hundreds of disturbing questions about this massacre that must be answered.

This article by attorney Linda Thompson (1953-2009) of the American Justice Foundation is one of the better investigations that I’ve read on the FBI’s massacre of the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas on April 19, 1993.  Her Amazon page for her video documentary on Waco, titled Waco: The Big Lies, has this summary:

Linda Thompson is an American attorney, filmmaker, and the founder of the American Justice Federation. In 1993, she quit her job as a lawyer in Indianapolis, Indiana to start the American Justice Federation In 1993, she produced the videotape entitled “Waco: The Big Lie”, which contained footage of the siege of the Branch Davidian church in Waco, Texas and a history of the community. The videotape was distributed widely and for a short period after its release, she was a regular guest on talk radio shows, especially those of Art Bell and Chuck Harder. The film challenged the mainstream news reports of the Branch Davidian siege and created a small sensation, alleging a government coverup of the events surrounding the siege. Thompson pointed out many inconsistencies in the official story and the government reports, and the hypocrisy of using deadly weapons to “rescue” children from their parents.

YouTube has her documentary.

WACO: Rules of Engagement portrays the FBI, ATF, and other federal agencies involved as sympathetic forces while portraying David Koresh as a deranged and desperate prophet.  Though it’s not a bad place to start to see video details of the event, remember that it’s still biased on behalf of the Federal government and disparages Koresh and the individuals living in that compound.  The justifications and rationale by the FBI, ATF, and other is typical dreck.  The atrocities are layered.  First, the mass killing of American men, women, and children on American soil, then the American politicians, like Tom Lantos, Democrat from California, blaming the victims for begging to be brought to a deadly justice is unspeakably nightmarish.  The video is often taken down or owned by somebody else, then reposted.  So if you find the video here “not available,” simply go to YouTube and search for it.

1993, April 19.  Waco, Texas.  The Waco Seige.  The Rules of Engagement.  Ron Paul on Waco Massacre.  You’ll want to read this by Anthony Gregory, who chronicles the BATF’s publicity stunt as a preface to the Massacre of children at Waco.  Watch the cruelty of the Feds in Waco: The Rules of Engagement.  That’s the official name, and it’s now for rent on YouTube.  TopDocumentaryFilms also hosts the documentary, but they simply host the YouTube version for rent at $2.99.  I remember I was in UC Irvine’s Periodical section in the Basement working and talking about this horrible event with my coworker, Debra.

The Libertarian Institute has provided some terrific resources, starting with a list that includes WACO: The Rules of Engagement, FLIR, which I’d not heard of, and a bibliography on the subject by Jim Bovard.  This video was interesting because the FLIR Project seems to provide evidence that the FBI, ATF, and other federal agencies involved in the massacre were wearing army combative uniforms with chemically treated BDUs, Battle Dress Uniforms, to muffle their thermal profile on infrared imagery.

Wikipedia points out that

Near Infrared (NIR) Signature Management Technology is incorporated to minimize the infrared silhouette. Permanent IR IFF squares are sewn to each shoulder to help identify friendly personnel when night vision devices are used and are protected by Velcro tabs in garrison or when not in use.

Then there is WACO: New Revelation, released in 1999, which I’ve yet to watch.

Here are James Bovard’s archives on the Waco Massacre and the FBI and ATF’s culpability in the mass murder.

The book, The Davidian Massacre: Disturbing Questions About Waco Which Must Be Answered (1995), by Carol Moore, came highly recommended by Scott Horton.  The book is here for free, but I am sure it would help the author and her efforts if you went ahead and ordered a copy for yourself and maybe one for friends.
