One of my favorite books on communism in Cuba is Humberto Fontava’s Exposing the Real Che Guevara and the Useful Idiots Who Idolize Him, 2008, if only because he is, er was, the little darling the intellectual left.  Teachers would tape huge posters of Che Guevara on their door, then open their door for the entire student body and staff to see and admire.  Imagine if some teacher did the same thing Adolf Hitler or Josef Stalin or Pol Pot.
