“The attack at the U. S. Embassy was no attack at all. It was no Benghazi. The police allowed protestors inside the gate.”

You won’t find a better analysis of the threat of war with Iran than from Scott Horton.
Don’t miss this must-listen-to interview by Tom Woods of Scott Horton.   Thank you, Tom Woods, for bringing Scott’s great insights to light. This is excellent.

Tom does a good job of getting Scott to address a lot of the reductive, blunting charges made by parroting, unthinking illiterates that the U.S. HAD TO DEFEND ITS EMBASSY.  Scott answers that further into the interview.

Tom also raises the obvious point that conflicts between the U.S. and Iran are bound to occur, and wouldn’t they? The U. S. has something like 20 bases, that’s military bases, bordering Iran. The U.S. couldn’t be more threatening to Iran the same way that U.S. bases in Okinawa threaten the Japanese 75 years since the war’s end.

HORTON [4:12]: A war did not break out, and a war was not likely to break out. So people who were alarmist about this . . . .  Hey, the Left-wingers held an anti-war protest for the first time in 11 years. . . . If you actually know where the chess pieces are set up in the middle east right now, you know that the Americans know that they cannot have a war with Iran just as well as Iran knows that they cannot have a war with the United States.  Mutually-assured destruction is keeping the peace as far as that goes.  This is small level tit-for-tat stuff, which doesn’t make it right . . . . [4:50]  but it means that, well, the people that you’re talking about in comparison to a lot of hyperbole from the other side get to feel smug about . . . “See, there were so few consequences from the terrible thing I support, so that means I am smart” or this kind of thing.  That’s not really right.  These kinds of things can get out of hand despite the intentions of leadership on either side.

HORTON [6:00]: But people, for whatever reason, are just determined to say, “Oh, yeah, no, I definitely line up on this side of this argument, over this dispute with Iran and Iraq that obviously 99% of these people know not the first thing about whatsoever.  Instead, it’s just . . . vicarious violence is fun, like going to the movies on Friday and seeing a car chase and a shoot-out or something, you know. [6:23]

America is attacking our allies right now.  These were not some . . . .

The attack at the Embassy was no attack at all.  It was no Benghazi. They allowed protestors inside the gate.

As far as the characterization of Suleimani as terrorist constituting an “imminent threat,” hardly.  Try convincing Americans of the errors of their thinking.  No way.
